Essential oil recipes can be created safely at home provided you understand a few facts. First of all, when mixing essential oils recipes you should never be put directly on the skin at full strength; they are simply too concentrated for such use. Secondly, you need to choose a carrier oil if you do wish to apply to the skin. Oil fumes can safely be inhaled from the bottle. Today, perhaps the most popular method of benefiting from is by use of an essential oil diffuser like the Aromasent. Whatever method you choose to distribute the oil to your body is up to you.

If you wish use an essential oil diffuser, you’ll use tap or distilled water (refer to your product’s instructions to be such which is right) instead of any carrier oil. Just blend the oils together, using the given proportions and store in dark glass. To create a safe cream or rub, choose a carrier oil from this list:

Almond Oil: Very easily absorbed but shouldn’t be used by anyone allergic to nuts
Avocado Oil: Full of Vitamin A and great for dry skin and signs of aging
Soya Oil: Rich in Vitamin E
Wheat Germ Oil: Tones and firms skin, great for scar reduction and high in A, B, C and E but has a strong smell
Olive Oil: Only use in a pinch because the strong odor can compete with essential oil
Here are a few recipes to help you deal with daily stress of normal life and even deal with periods of more intense stress:

Mixture 1 for Everyday Stress:

30 ml of your chosen carrier oil
4 drops Clary sage oil (great for blood pressure)
3 drops Ylang Ylang oil (regulates heart rate and breathing)
3 drops lavender (general calming properties)

Mixture 2 Relaxing Blend:

1 ounce carrier oil
3 drops each lavender, tangerine and marjoram oils
1 drop Chamomile oil

Mixture 3 Diffuser Recipe for Stress and Mental Clarity:

I’ve never blended this one with carrier oil, but it’s great for the office in a diffuser.
3 drops lemon oil
2 drops rosemary oil
1 drop basil oil
2 drops lavender oil

Mixture 4 Stress Relieving Foot Rub:

If you work on your feet all day, there’s nothing better than stress relieving foot oil massage.
4 ounces carrier oil
3 ounces mint tea
21 drops lavender oil
10 drops peppermint oil
5 drops spearmint essential oil
Apply liberally to feet, arms or legs and massage in well.

Mixture 5 for Stress Relief Using a Diffuser:

3 drops Bergamot essential oil
1 drop Frankincense oil
1 drop lavender essential oil

Bonus Essential Oil Tip:

You may notice that almost all these essential oil wellness recipes contain lavender essential oil. It is considered the universal essential oil for stress reduction, relaxation and improving sleep. I use 3 drops of lavender oil by itself in my Aromasent essential oil diffuser each night for sleeping to awake refreshed.
